1. An introductory statement; especially, the introductory part of a constitution or statute that usually states
the reasons for and intent of the law.
2. An introductory fact or circumstance; especially, one indicating what is to follow.
3. The first twelve days at George Mason University that marks the beginning of your life as a Patriot.


As a new Mason student, you’re about to embark on the journey of your college career as a Patriot. In the
process, you'll meet some of the best friends of your life, do things you never thought you would, and learn
from some of the most accomplished faculty all while earning a degree and living within minutes of
Washington, D.C.

The Preamble marks the start of this new adventure and will be filled with tons of new experiences and
opportunities to get involved. Throughout the next 12 days, more than 100 events will be happening on
campus and there's sure to be something for everyone.

Events are open to all Mason students. A special invitation is extended to all freshmen and transfer students
who are strongly encouraged to participate as they prepare to be transformed into a Patriot!
